Circuit breaker recycling: what we collect

Circuit breakers, contactors, relays, switchboards, distribution boards, busbar and copper links from upgrades, decommissions and substation work.

Breakers and contactors hold silver-alloy contacts and heavy copper. Mixed into general scrap, that is lost in the steel.

Your electrician isolates and removes the gear. Tell us about any gas or oil when you enquire.

Put it on pallets or in stillages, with breakers together and busbar bundled. Give us a rough count or weight. Related pages: copper cable, motors and transformers and metal from retired equipment.

Collection across metropolitan Melbourne, with delivery to our yard available by arrangement for business loads.

Your questions

Does the switchgear need to be removed first?

Yes. Your electrician isolates and removes it. We collect the units once they are out and safe.

What about gas-insulated or oil-filled units?

Tell us when you enquire. Gas has to be recovered before collection, and oil-filled units are checked separately.

Do you take a single breaker?

Not on its own. This is for switchboard upgrades, substation work and decommissions that fill pallets.
