UPS battery disposal for Melbourne businesses covers lead-acid UPS strings, forklift traction batteries, and standby and telecom banks. Lithium batteries are not handled.

The problem

A battery change can leave you with heavy old units and no plan to move them. Your supplier, maintenance contractor and site team need to agree who does what before the collection.

A forklift battery needs different lifting gear from a pallet of UPS units. If a bank is spread across cabinets, you need to know which units are disconnected and which are still in use.

What Crex does

  1. Tell us what you have. Label photos, counts, condition, weights and sizes, and whether the batteries are still installed.
  2. Your technician disconnects them. A qualified contractor disconnects and removes the batteries. We agree where we pick them up and who signs off on the day.
  3. We collect. We agree the lifting gear, loading route and timing, then collect the batteries for recycling.

What we take

What we handle

UPS battery disposal: what we take

Lead-acid batteries from businesses and industrial sites, identified before collection.

  • Disconnected UPS strings.
  • Forklift traction batteries released by the dealer or maintenance contractor.
  • Standby lead-acid banks from commercial and industrial sites.
  • Telecom lead-acid banks.
  • Batteries saved up from planned maintenance, listed by unit, weight and condition.

Send clear label photos and a count of each battery type. Tell us about any damage or leaks before the batteries are moved. The lead-acid batteries page explains what to tell us. For the equipment around them, see servers and networking and data centre decommissioning.

What we don't handle

Lithium batteries are not handled. Keep them out of a lead-acid load and out of retired IT equipment. Batteries without a readable label need identifying before we can look at the load.

We do not do electrical work. Batteries still connected to a live system are not collected.

UPS and server-room batteries

List each UPS string or standby bank separately from the servers, racks and cables. Tell us the cabinet locations, unit counts and when your contractor expects to have them out. Show us the route to the loading point, including stairs, lifts and secure rooms.

Lifting and access

We need the real weight, size and route for the load. Tell us what lifting gear is on site, who runs it and whether a truck can reach the pickup point. The forklift battery replacement guide lists the questions to ask your dealer.

Two ways to run it

A maintenance project

One collection for a UPS, forklift, standby or telecom battery change. Send the list of old units and when your contractor will have them out.

Regular collections

Suits businesses that change lead-acid batteries often. Each collection still needs an up-to-date list, and a changed load needs checking again.

Collection arrangements

Collection across metropolitan Melbourne, with delivery to our yard available by arrangement for business loads.

Send the site suburb, loading route, induction rules and preferred time.
