Hard drive destruction Melbourne: what we collect

  • Hard drives, including drives removed from servers.

  • SSDs, portable drives and removable media.

  • Drives inside laptops, desktops and storage arrays.

  • Built-in storage in phones, printers and network gear.

Data destruction methods and degaussing

Secure data destruction means picking a method that suits the drive. Wiping erases the data so the drive can be reused. Physical destruction breaks the drive so it can't be read. Degaussing uses a strong magnet and only works on magnetic drives, not SSDs. Your IT team chooses the method for each group of drives.

How to pack the drives

Count the drives, not just the equipment they came from. Lock them in a secure box, note any that have failed, and name the person who will hand them over. Don't send passwords or serial lists with your enquiry photos.

How it works

  1. Send the count. Drive types, numbers and where they are.

  2. Choose the method. Wipe or destroy, for each group of drives.

  3. We collect. We count the drives with your contact on the day, then wipe or destroy them as instructed.

You get written confirmation once the drives are wiped or destroyed.

Collection, minimums and timing

Collection across metropolitan Melbourne, with delivery to our yard available by arrangement for business loads.

There is no minimum. The fee depends on the load and access, and the quote comes back by email once we have looked at what you have.

Related asset types

Hard drive disposal often comes with server retirement or laptop retirement. Keep the link between each device and its drive if your own register needs it.

Return to e-waste collection or materials we work with.

Batteries in devices

Laptops, phones and tablets can come as they are, with their batteries in. Loose, swollen or damaged lithium batteries are not taken. Tell us if any device is swollen, cracked or has been in water.
