Say what the material is
A pallet, bag or drum is how it is packed, not what it is. Start with what the load contains, where it came from and anything mixed in. Point out dirt, oil, hidden batteries and confidential papers before packing.
Use supplier labels or stock records where you have them. Do not guess a plastic from its colour, or call a container empty when residue is left. "Not sure" is more useful than a wrong label.

Check we take it
The A to Z list shows what we take, what we take with conditions and what goes elsewhere. Read the page for your actual item. Taking clean offcuts does not mean we take mixed packaging.
For small amounts, council or product take-back schemes may be free. Check whether they take business loads first.
If several materials are part of a site clear-out, equipment retirement can cover them in one booking. Keep each type listed separately.
Give amounts and photos
Give an item count for equipment, a bag count for bagged material and sizes for bulky loads. Give a weight if you have one, and say which figures are estimates.
Mention long lengths and awkward shapes, as they take more truck space. Light foam can fill a truck while weighing very little.
Take a wide photo for scale and close-ups to show what it is. Do not climb stacks or disturb damaged items for a better photo.
Packing pallets
Use a sound pallet that suits the load and keep it stable. Do not leave heavy equipment on a broken pallet just because it has not moved yet.
Keep loose parts contained and sharp edges out of walkways. Tell us about anything tall, overhanging or hard to strap down. Label each pallet so it is clear which ones are going.
Packing bulk bags
Use a bag that suits the material and its weight. Keep nylon and other plastics separate by type and grade. Do not use a bag to hide a mixed workshop clear-out.
Tell us about torn bags or damaged lifting loops. Do not lift an overfilled bag just for a photo. Keep dry material under cover and label each bag.
Containers, batteries and installed equipment
For IBC tanks, tell us what they held and whether they are empty and rinsed. Mention any residue or unknown contents. Do not drain leftover material into another container.
Batteries need their own arrangements. Do not hide them among cables or put damaged packs in an ordinary box. Use the battery service to book them in.
Installed equipment must be signed off and safely disconnected by your own people before collection day.
Site access checklist
- Truck access: gates, turning space and where it parks
- Loading area: floor level, lifts, stairs and low ceilings
- Security or induction rules for the driver
- A forklift and licensed driver, if needed, and whether they will be free on the day
- Material that is going, kept clearly apart from anything staying
- One contact who can confirm what is going on the day
Tell us if the material, amount or condition changes before collection.
What Crex does
Crex confirms what we take through the material pages and collects it from your site, or you can bring it to our Braeside yard by arrangement.
Tell us what you've got. Prices come back by email once the material is assessed. Pack it the way we agree so the driver can recognise the load on the day.
