Data centre decommissioning: what we collect

  • Rack servers, blades and storage arrays.

  • Switches, routers, firewalls and comms-room appliances.

  • Disconnected racks, rails, shelves and cabling.

  • UPS equipment and batteries, handled as a separate job.

Mark what goes and who does what

Rack decommissioning needs more than a photo of the room. Mark the racks and equipment that are going, and note anything owned by the landlord or another tenant. Your IT team decides what happens to the data.

Comms room decommissioning often happens inside a working office, so agree escorts, lift bookings and dock access early. A server room clearance doesn't include electrical or building work. If the equipment list changes, tell us before the day.

How to pack it

Send a rack or room list, equipment counts, the number of drives, known weights and door and lift sizes. Photos should show the space and the route out, not passwords or network details. Keep removed drives locked away, and keep anything not yet signed off apart from the rest.

How it works

  1. Agree the list. What is going, what stays live and who signs off.

  2. Plan the day. Your team shuts down and disconnects. We agree the order of removal, escorts and loading times.

  3. We collect. We check the equipment against the list. Drives are wiped or destroyed as you instruct, and the rest is recycled.

You get written confirmation once the drives are wiped or destroyed.

Collection, minimums and timing

Collection across metropolitan Melbourne, with delivery to our yard available by arrangement for business loads.

There is no minimum. The fee depends on the load and access, and the quote comes back by email once we have looked at what you have.

Related asset types

Use servers and networking, UPS batteries and cables to build the room list. Bigger site projects can include equipment retirement.

Return to e-waste collection or materials we work with. See hard drives and data before you hand over any storage.

Batteries in devices

Laptops, phones and tablets can come as they are, with their batteries in. Loose, swollen or damaged lithium batteries are not taken. Tell us if any device is swollen, cracked or has been in water.
